Computerbits is now accepting payments by card!<\/h3>\n

We have long refused to accept payment via a “Card Machine” on the principle that these machines cost us money!<\/h3>\n

There is a fee for “hiring” the card machine, we were originally quoted \u00a339 per month (by, the now long gone “Midland Card Services”), some years later we accepted a deal offered by an “American Express Rep”, involving a machine at \u00a315\/month, only the “Rep” turned out not to work for Amex and the deal was pretty much a con.<\/p>\n

There is of course, a cost per transaction or percentage charge on top of the machine rental, and together we always felt that paying these costs meant the prices charged customers could not be competitive.<\/p>\n

Now however a whole raft of new technology in the Card Acceptance Business, and along with Online Banking it’s making a significant dent in the traditional “Card Services” Business.<\/p>\n

We have always, (and still do) had the ability to take payments online via Paypal, but this too has very high costs.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

From today we are using innovative new \u00a0Chip and Pin Card Readers that enable us to accept payments in a range of ways, face to face, over the phone, and via mobile banking.<\/p>\n

\"PayM<\/a>Looking\u00a0at the payment methods you may note some less familiar ones, \u00a0the PayM<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0system is a new service run by the UK Payments Council, (that’s the people who clear cheques for the banks), and works via your Banks mobile banking app. This system is designed for paying and receiving money using just mobile phone numbers. It is in effect free, and even quicker and easier than using your Banks Internet Banking system.<\/p>\n

This is a really good, (if poorly publicised), payment system, not just for paying ComputerBits, but also transmitting money to friends and family, settling Hotel and Restaurant bills etc.<\/p>\n

If you bank with one of the banks below go here <\/a>and register for this service before you need it!<\/p>\n

Of course we are still happy to be paid in Cash, and for larger amounts payment directly into our bank is still the mutually quickest, easiest and importantly, cheapest method of payment<\/h3>\n
