Microsoft are releasing a new version of the Windows operating system on July 29th. They have not told us how this will be priced, but they have said that any user with a valid existing version of Windows 7,8 or 8.1 will be able to get a free upgrade for the first year of release (July 2015 – July 2016), that will be valid for the life of the device onto which it installs.

Now it seems that connected PCs have a "pop-up" (Ms isn't this spyware/malware?)  on the taskbar urging users to pre-apply. We wonder why anybody should apply to get something that may wreck their device? Changing to a new Operating System is not something that should be done lightly, will your programs work on the new OS, will the publishers support Windows 10 straight away? .

We have been using Beta versions of Windows 10 since last autumn and frankly it doesn't seem near ready enough yet! Our advice, wait at least a couple of months then make a considered, planned decision.
