I was looking for a replacement battery for Terry’s cordless drill, and came across what looked like the one I needed, at a reasonable price BUT, whilst the sparse written details and first image suggested it was the correct part, the other two images were not only of different batteries to the first one, the third photo showed 2 views of a battery that were different within the one image!

No problem, I’ll give them a call and ask which is the correct image….., oh no I wont, the website has no phone number that I can find, the contacts page is simply a form, no address or phone numbers. The “About us” tells me that they are an online site selling tools !

Well they’ve got a blog , that’ll give me a clue as to who they are..

The blog has an entry in October 2010 welcoming you to the “new website”,  and one in January 2011 saying they have a facebook page, the first entry has 1173 comments which you can view, one looking for a part another complaining they are not answering messages and the remaining 1171 (I cant say I checked every one!) being SPAM (We know using “comments” on blogs to Spam is a complete pain to all Bloggers), why haven’t they removed this junk?

Their Facebook page is really little better, they have made a few entries claiming to sell things BUT..

My point here is WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND IS GOING TO BUY ANYTHING OF A SITE LIKE THIS?, what do you do if you pay money and it goes wrong? who are you dealing with?? (the mafia??) .

It seems they use Sagepay to take your money, what are Sage doing having their name plastered all over a site that hides its own identity?

Now whilst I cannot say that the people hidden behind this are stealing, or even dubious, I can say that their website BREAKS THE LAW, not just technically in that they are required to publish some company details on the site but, in my opinion more importantly, the absence of ANY INFORMATION WHATSOEVER suggest dubious motives.

Really people caveat emptor (Let the buyer beware), applies on the internet more than anywhere, please make some simple checks about whom your dealing with and don’t just look for the (apparently) cheapest
