“Good morning I am calling from Green IT we have been advised by Microsoft that your computer might have a virus”, goodness a virus on my PC ?? “Are you able to go to your PC now and I can talk you through sorting it out” (Fancy Microsoft being concerned about helping little old me out, how kind, they’re not the evil empire some people say!)

That’s not to say that Microsoft may not be kind, BUT these increasingly common phone calls DO NOT have anything to do with them.

We have had several reported instances of phone calls like this being made in a disturbing new type of malware Scam, the calls are made at random and based on the assumption that everyone has a computer, the objective is to talk you into downloading their malware onto your PC without you realising this is happening.

These calls are coming from “call centre” type operations and are both convincing and persuasive, please be aware of this possibility and we would suggest if in any doubt respond by asking them if they could call back at a more suitable time, and meanwhile call us (0844 504 2986) and lets check it out.
